Bree, Duillond, Thorin's Hall and Hobbiton, players can get their hands on some exciting new cosmetic masks just in time for All Hallow's Eve.
The festival allows you to gather festival tokens, complete special quests and compete in the horse races.
Harvestmath (Bree)
Harvestmath is the fall festival held by the Men of Bree-land. It is located on the Bree-land festival grounds just north of Bree, and within the town of Bree itself. Many of the events here are the same as the Summer Lithe Festival or last year's Fall Festival, with a few exceptions. The dancing, pumpkin patch, pie-eating and horse races are all the same as last year. In fact, the horse you can win for this year's festival is the exact same one as last year's. We will include reference for the repeated parts of the event later in this guide, but for now we want to focus on the Troves and Trickery series of quests.
In Bree, this quest starts by talking to Bryony Elwood, located on the road just north of the Town Crier. She will tell you to that she wants you to put on a mask and play tricks on four citizens of Bree. You don't actually need to wear the mask to perform these tricks, but you do need to find each person and perform a certain emote in front of them after you talk to them about the quest. An interesting bug with this is the fact that you will need to take any other quests that these NPCs might have, or else their Troves and Trickery quest won't show up. This can certainly throw off players if they don't know exactly who they're looking for.
You can refer to the map above for exact locations of each NPC. Going in the numerical order shown will probably be the most efficient, although you do have over 17 minutes to perform your trickster tasks. Refer to the Fall Harvest Festival gallery for screenshots of each NPC if you're stuck.
Tad Ashmead - This NPC stands on a box directly south of the Trickster NPC and in front of the Bree Town Hall. You will need to do the /dustoff emote in front of her after talking to her.
Tad Leafcutter - Run straight south on the main road to the Auction Hall and take a right turn towards the Bree Reputation Hall/Hunting Lodge. Sitting in front you'll see this NPC, who will be thoroughly impressed by your /shiver emote.
Mat Heathertoes - Head back out by the AH and then northwest as if you're going to the vault. You'll see a road turn off to the left and if you head down that path, you'll meet this NPC standing towards the back. Do the /mock emote to impress this fellow.
Lily Sandheaver - Head back out the alley and straight north towards the Western Bree stables. Lily Sandheaver also functions as the area's Grocer, so you may be fairly familiar with her already. Perform the /yawn emote to her and you're all finished! Circle back down the road towards The Prancing Pony, and talk to the Trickster once again to claim your prize. The first time you do it, you may want to take the Beaver mask token as a reward. Luckily, the quest is repeatable (after several hours) so the subsequent runs through can be done for three Fall Festival tokens each time.
Autumnfest (Thorins Hall)
Autumnfest is the fall festival held by the Dwarves of Thorin's Hall, located inside Thorin's Hall itself. Many of the events here are the same as the Summer Lithe Festival or last year's Fall Festival, with a few exceptions. The dancing and geode hunt in the underground tavern area is all the same as last year. We will include reference for the repeated parts of the event later in this guide, but for now we want to focus on the Troves and Trickery series of quests.
This quest, as with the rest of the Troves and Trickery quests, is exactly the same as the Bree-land version. Inside Thorin's Hall, you will first need to talk to Guthlag the Trickster. You can refer to the map above for the exact locations of the Trickster and all other NPCs you'll need to trick for this quest. Following the map above will be your most efficient route, although you'll have plenty of time, so don't fret. If you need a visual aid to the NPCs listed below, make sure to refer to our complete Fall Harvest Festival gallery for more information.
Kaupi/Farmann/Fathi - All three of the Auctioneers in this area will work for this quest. Simply talk to them to continue the quest, then perform the /charge emote to impress them.
Egil Oldbeard - Mr. Oldbeard is down by the workbench crafting area on the eastern side of the hall. Once you talk to him, show him your best /flex, which will impress him enough for the quest.
Adwyn Flame-Eye - This NPC is sitting down near the other Bowers and the Hunter Trainer, just waiting for you to show him your very best /pushups.
Dwalin - Finally, at the top of the stairs on the northernmost end of the hall stands Dwalin. Once you talk to him and throw your /tantrum, you can then head back to the Trickster who gave you the quest and get your reward of either one Bucket (Orc) mask token or three Fall Festival tokens.
Iavasmereth
Iavasmereth is the fall festival held by the Elves of Duillond. It is located inside and around the town of Duillond in eastern Ered Luin. Many of the events here are the same as the Summer Lithe Festival or last year's Fall Festival, with a few exceptions. The dancing and scroll hunt are the same as last year. We will include reference for the repeated parts of the event later in this guide, but for now we want to focus on the Troves and Trickery series of quests.
Again this quest is the same concept as the others, but only in a different area. Since Duillond doesn't have a closer map than what's shown in the Ered Luin map, we don't have one to show you, locating each quest NPC. Luckily, this quest is fairly easy, with most NPCs (with the exception of one) located within a close range of each other. Start off by talking to Gloreniel, the Trickster quest-giver NPC down on the southern side of Duillond, in the normal festival area. As always, if you'd like to see screenshots of the following NPCs, refer to our complete Fall Harvest Festival gallery for more information.
Lubathred - After you talk to the Trickster, head directly east to a small enclosure with Lubathred standing inside. Take note that this NPC is standing on the same level as Gloreniel, so don't head up those stairs just yet. Show him a quick /cower and you'll be off to the next NPC.
Nathronwen - Head up the spiral stairs and on the first platform to your left you'll see this NPC. Show her your best /handstand and consider her impressed.
Fanhir - This NPC is located right across the small bridge directly to the north of Nathronwen. She doubles as a One-Handed Weaponsmith, so you may recognize her a bit. Show her your best /roar and you're on your way.
Barchiril - If you have a horse, you might want to hop on it for this one. She's located all the way out past the bridge into town, almost to The Shire. In fact, she's the Duillond Housing Broker, so she's just outside the Elven homestead area. Apparently this makes up for the fact that the other three were so close to each other! Once you get to her, show her how interested you are in her story with a /whippitydo and head back to Gloreniel the Trickster for your reward. You can choose between the ever-stylish Rabbit mask token or three Fall Festival tokens.
Harvest Festival
Harvest Festival is the fall festival held by the Hobbits of Hobbiton-Bywater. It is located at the Party Tree, just south of Bag End and north of Hobbiton-Bywater. Many of the events here are the same as the Summer Lithe Festival or last year's Fall Festival, with a few exceptions. The dancing, Inn League, traveling farmer and apple-bobbing are the same as last year. We will include reference for the repeated parts of the event later in this guide, but for now we want to focus on the Troves and Trickery series of quests.
As with the Duillond version, this one also does not have a close-up map. Luckily, it is also very easy to locate each NPC. Start off by talking to Egbert Took the Trickster just to the east of the Party Tree. He'll give you the Troves and Trickery quest and you're off! For images of the following NPCs, and more information regarding their locations, refer to our complete Fall Harvest Festival gallery.
Porto Brownlock - This Novice Farmhand is crawling around the farmland area to the southeast of Egbert. Talk to him, have a /smoke and you're ready to move on.
Ted Sandyman - This Hobbit is located just southwest of Porto, standing right in front of the Bywater Bridge. Show him a healthy /stretch and he'll be impressed enough to let you go on to your next NPC.
Daddy Twofoot - Continue south across the bridge and into town, where you'll find Mr. Twofoot, just across from the Postmaster. Show him a quick /pick emote and head back north on the road towards where you came.
Lobelia Sackville-Baggins - If you've ever played a character through the early questline for The Shire, you'll remember this not-so-delightful Hobbit. She's located just north (and uphill) from the Party Tree. If you show her your most dramatic /faint, you'll grab her attention just long enough to move on and turn in the quest. Hop down the small cliff and turn the quest back into Egbert, choosing your reward of either a Pumpkin mask token or three Fall Festival tokens.
Getting More Tokens
So by this time you've grabbed all four festival masks, you've won the horse race and received your horse token, you have your eye on some exclusive Fall Harvest Festival goodies for your home, but you're not sure exactly how to get all those Fall Festival tokens you'll need to finish off the prizes! Unlike the Summer Festival, there is no simple fishing tournament to gain potentially loads of tokens in one spot. With the Fall Festival, you'll need to participate in the simple pick-and-trade events held in Thorin's Hall, Bree-land, Hobbiton and Duillond.
Bree-land Pumpkin Patch
Located in the Bree-land festival grounds, you'll find a small patch of pumpkins, ready to pick. Right-clicking on this patch will gain you one of three various sizes of pumpkin: small, medium or large. Once you trade your pumpkin in to the Games-Master located beside the patch, you will get one of the following
- Small Pumpkin - 1 Fall Festival Token
- Medium Pumpkin - 2 Fall Festival Tokens
- Large Pumpkin - 3 Fall Festival Tokens
Once you gather enough of these festival tokens, you can trade them in to the Fall Festival barter NPC for the items you see below. Everything listed is a housing decoration except for the Guide to the Cowbell, which basically allows any character of any class to use the Cowbell instrument. This not only applies to the Bree-land festival, but all other festivals around Middle-earth.
Thorin's Hall Geode Box
This box is located in the underground tavern area of Thorin's Hall, near the Dance Master. You simply open the box to grab a geode for the Games Master.
- Cracked Geode - 1 Fall Festival Token
- Pristine Geode - 2 Fall Festival Tokens
- Faultless Geode - 3 Fall Festival Tokens
Duillond Scroll Chest
Located within the Duillond festival area, you'll see the Games Master Malenfas. Opening his scroll chest will reveal one of the following items, to trade for tokens:
- Unimpressive Scroll - 1 Fall Festival Token
- Well-Written Scroll - 2 Fall Festival Tokens
- Elegant Scroll - 3 Fall Festival Tokens
Hobbiton Apple Tubs
Located under the Party Tree, Sawlo Puddifoot the Games Master has some apple tubs for your apple-bobbing pleasure.
- Small Apple - 1 Fall Festival Token
- Medium Apple - 2 Fall Festival Tokens
- Large Apple - 3 Fall Festival Tokens
Each of these events has a 1-hour cool-down timer, which is conveniently shown under your character's morale and power bars. Theoretically, you could easily perform the pick-up quests for all four of these areas within an hour, including travel times. If you're a Hunter or lucky enough to know one, you could be ported around in even less time. Given the fact that this festival lasts until October 13, you should have plenty of time to grab the 95+ tokens needed to trade for one of everything! Now if you have multiple characters, houses or accounts, that's a different story.
And The Rest
With the exception of the Troves and Trickery quests, some of this year's festival is repeated from last year. Not to say this is a bad thing though, as much of it is here for those newer players to experience, or to work on the continuation of certain titles, such as for the Inn League.
Dancing
The dancing quests and rewards are all exactly like the ones from previous Summer and Fall Harvest festivals. You can find a handy guide to the dancing here.
Inn-League
This Hobbit-centric chain of quests is back again for the enjoyment of those players who may have missed it previously, or for those working to advance their Inn-League titles and status. You can find out more information on our complete guide to the Inn-League.
Harvest Provisioners
These NPCs will sell you certain ale that is only available during the cooler fall months. Whether you are a connoisseur of fine spirits, or simply love to get plastered, these are the merchants for you.
Horse Racing
These races are held in the same places as previously, with the All-Shire Run just south of Michel Delving and the Bree Derby held in the Bree-land Festival Grounds. The horse reward is identical to the one from last year's festival, and a brief guide can be found here.
Traveling Farmer in Hobbiton
This NPC, standing just west of the Inn-League NPC, has been setting up her farming building since the Summer Festival. She gives a small collection of quests for those players who planted crops with her during the Summer Festival earlier this year. The reward is a Black Mushroom Pot, used as a housing decoration.
Pie-Eating Contest
This Bree-land contest is the same as it has been for every previous festival. Simply talk to Humbert Sandheaver in the Bree-land festival grounds and he'll ask you to eat 6 pies in 60 seconds. Upon completion, you'll get the "Pie-Eating Champion" title to show off to your friends. It's interesting to note though that this event is only available during late morning through early evening in game time. Turbine has commented in the past about this event being considered more of an Easter egg than anything, as it has a 33% chance of showing up on each given day.
So there you have it. We hope this exhaustive guide will help you in your holiday celebrations, and get you those festival rewards you've been eying. Of course, we can't mention it enough, but be sure to check out the complete gallery for a visual guide to the NPCs, maps, masks and more!
